Belated Happy World Jollof Day, Villager!

In case you missed it, yesterday was World Jollof Day...

Why do we have a day to celebrate Jollof, you may ask? 😅

Well, if you ask me...Na who I go ask?

But what I do know is that it's another perfect excuse to eat Jollof rice without my loved ones warning me that “Bambi, Jollof rice will soon start growing on your head.”

Yesterday, in the spirit of celebrating Jollof, I decided to indulge myself and went to a restaurant to grab a plate of Jollof rice. As I was ordering, my ears perked up when I heard the next person in line order.

“Jollof rice and stew????”

Ahnahn! Who eats Jollof rice with stew?

Villager! If you do this, I’m calling you out now!

What manner of trust issue is that? 

It's giving "two-factor authentication."

It's giving "Don’t put all your eggs in one basket."

Stew is for white rice, and Jollof+ should be eaten just as it is! Ahnahn???

Kindly repent and return to the way of truth—plain Jollof rice!

As I sat down to enjoy my perfect, untainted plate of Jollof rice, I got lost in thought.

I remembered when we were still in the development phase of our savings app months ago. We were trying to pick a name, and after much back-and-forth, we settled on “Jollof+.”

Now, I’ve seen some of you call us unserious for naming a savings app Jollof+, and I get it. Maybe if you understood why we did it, you’d love the name too.

1. We wanted an app that united all Nigerians with a common goal: to beat inflation through saving. And what food unites Nigerians more than jollof? We literally go to war with other countries every market day to prove that Nigerian Jollof is superior.

2. We also wanted to create an app that would be mentioned when you’re celebrating the achievement of your dreams—whether that’s buying a car, getting married to the love of your life, or any other milestone. What food is always at the heart of every Nigerian celebration, if not Jollof?

So, there it was: "Jollof.". To assure you of our commitment to going above and beyond in serving you, we added the "+"; hence, "Jollof+.".

I believe you love us already because the milestone we recently hit was mind-blowing.

In our first 64 days, you and 15,499 Nigerians saved ₦1.3 billion with Jollof+.

It’s quite humbling and inspiring to see how you’ve made saving with Jollof+ a crucial part of your life.

All we had was a dream to help Nigerians beat inflation by offering high interest on their savings, and you trusted us and rode with us.
