If You Hate Your Job, This is for You

Instead of ranting about how terrible your job is this weekend, you should read this email.

Hello, Villager!

We've all had jobs we didn't enjoy for one reason or another. But quitting isn't always an option—unless you want to live on Garri for a while. And we all know, even Garri isn’t cheap anymore.

Today's email is short and actionable! I’m sharing five proven steps to leave a job you hate and land the job of your dreams. These aren’t just empty words; I've used these steps repeatedly with great success.

Let’s dive in:

1. Get on LinkedIn : Not just to apply for jobs, but to build your personal brand. This video was a game-changer for me when I started on LinkedIn. Trust me, LinkedIn is where it’s at.

2. Upskill: Self-improvement has never been more accessible. You can be in your bedroom in Ikorodu and take a course from Harvard.

If you can’t afford paid courses now, you can start saving to get one with the Ajo+ feature on the Jollof+ savings app. Meanwhile, explore free courses online, like those offered by HubSpot Academy.

3. Network: I'm not talking about attending a physical event. Calm down 🤣🤣🤣

Use LinkedIn to connect with C-suite executives and top professionals in your field.

I started connecting with CEOs and founders when I had less than 1,000 followers on LinkedIn. This opens doors for pitching yourself directly to decision-makers.

4. Learn to Write a Good CV: Writing a CV isn’t rocket science, but you’d be surprised how many people get it wrong.

A quick YouTube search on "How to write a CV" can save you headaches—and land you more job interviews.

Bonus Tip: CVs are not just enough these days. You want to also include a portfolio showing the real-life impact of your work. This will help you secure 70% more interviews than you currently do.

5. Be Excellent at Your Current Job – Even if you’re ready to leave your current job, keep doing your best.

Your future employer may contact your current one to verify your work ethic. You don’t want to burn bridges that could cost you your dream job.

You don’t have to stay stuck in a job you hate. Start taking action today, and within 3-6 months, you could be in a much better place.

So, what will it be—more ranting or real action?

I will talk to you soon.

Toodles,

Bambi
