Villager, If You Dare Give Up....

Hello Villager!

The past few days have been a bit tough and bleak but as they say, "Elemi lo ma last" (only the strong shall survive)

It's been a while since I last wrote to you. Dare I say that I have missed you? 

How have you been? 

Oh well! I have been well, thanks for asking. But the state of things has caused me to think a lot, and I will be sharing my thoughts with you today as well as telling you a reason why you can't afford to give up.

Last Wednesday, I was speaking with a friend on the phone, and our conversation veered towards the protest that would erupt the next day. 

He had advised that I stock up the house with food, which is obviously a good advice.

I got to the supermarket to pick up a few things, and here are three events I noticed:

1. A woman and her son had come in to get some groceries. The boy asked for some cookies, and she picked up a pack. On getting to the counter, she realized that the total amount of what she bought exceeded the amount she had budgeted. She had to drop the pack of cookies and some other things. Her son looked so disappointed, and above all, the mother looked tired. I could see the frustration on her face as she tried to explain to her wailing son that there wasn't enough money to satisfy his cravings.

2.  An elderly man had returned a pack of chicken because of how expensive it was and made a joke about the economy turning all of us to vegetarians. He laughed it off but you could see the pain in his eyes.

3. A woman kept walking through the mall for minutes, basket empty, probably looking for what she could afford to get.

Exiting that supermarket made me repeat the same thing I say to myself a lot: "Bambi, if you dare give up, posterity will not be kind to you."

I also implore you not to give up today on making your life and the lives of those you love better.
